Balsasurfers blanks were trees growing naturally in family owned and managed forest plots. No cheap plantations. Balsa is necessary as trees grow quickly after felling and this trade protects diverse ecosystems.

Up to three trees are needed for one blank as the density of the inner lengths have to match, but the rails are denser and therefore stronger. No pith or fungus threaded wood, after eleven days in a kiln blanks are perfectly dry, lightweight and ready for immediate shaping, (35 minutes in Ocean Magic’s shaping machine!)
